ASW Distillery’s story is no different, except it started with two friends, Jim Chasteen and Charlie Thompson, a shared love of whiskey, and a mutual connection to the University of Georgia. They weren’t descended from distillers. They were just UGA buddies who couldn’t figure out why Atlanta, a city of this size, didn’t have good whiskey. This wasn’t a phase. After college and a detour into the ‘real world,’ the idea stuck. They brought in Justin Manglitz, a man with a reputation as a mad scientist of brewing and distilling, and ASW was born. Their mission was simple: make something they’d actually buy. In 2016, they opened their doors, becoming only the second legally licensed distillery in Atlanta since Prohibition. The second. Location and Distillation
